Great essay. I loved it and experience a lot of the same feelings.

By the way, here's the musical equivalent of your essay. It's by a band called sprites.

Catchy little ditty.

The thought of responding to a voice in cyberspace strikes occasionally, knowing it’s a way to build excitement with the ding of a possible response. A couple of years ago, I was involved in an idea to offer a non-profit alternative to the current overcrowding in the Vermont corrections system. We called it “The Vermont Stonewall Project.” More of that later, but during that “heady” time, I corresponded spontaneously

To: a few folks that were “important” to me
Subj: Vermont Stonewall Project

When they actually responded, I took it as a sign they would become personal friends and launch our idea into reality. It turns out they were being polite and I was too something, not enough of something else, to know the difference. No matter… I thought I would send this off as a bonus ding in the space between then and tomorrow.

I am curious about your sobriety. I heard your thang on the radio a while ago and wondered if you were friends with Bill W? Anyway, no matter…

Don’t drink without me…

Thanks for stopping by, Wistfool. No, I'm not friends with Bill W. but admire all that he's done for the suffering. I might be able to satisfy your curiosity by directing you to an essay I wrote a few years back called Afterlife. I haven't figured out how to embed a link in a comment post yet so here's the address for the old cut-and-paste job:

to embed a link in a comment you type:

[a href="http://www.whateverlinktolinkto.com"]blah blah blah[/a]

except rather than use "[" and "]", you use "<" and ">".

Then the text of "blah blah blah" will become a hyperlink to whatever page you put in the address. Does that make sense?

Caleb,

I read this on What's The Point? I get the same responses from my wife too. I'm spending too much time in front of the computer... waiting for "google alerts." Well said!

BTW, the number one visted blog from iBrattleboro is... What I Saw Today. They've just gone over 1,000 visits from iBrat recently. Congrats!

Thanks for stopping by, brattlerouser, and with such interesting news, too; tho i have to say, I'm taken aback, haven't noticed too much traffic from ibrattleboro in recent months but perhaps in my narcissistic stat haze I'm missing the referring site; anyway, if really true, I'm humbled; thanks for having me on board, hope you're seeing at least some traffic from my site...
